On my mind

Maybe I should have titled this "Helllllllooooo baby fever"!  Now that we've celebrated our first wedding anniversary, we've had some discussions as to where we stand on starting our family.  We're at a crossroads and treading lightly.

First off, I feel like every other woman I see on the street is pregnant.  The other half, they've got the little ones/newborns with them.  Umm, hello I'm surrounded.  Yes, I know it's probably an exaggeration but I've realized whenever something is on my mind, I tend to notice it more frequently than normal  (like when we weren't engaged yet, I swore practically everyone else was engaged).

Some people say wait before you have a baby, enjoy one another, you just got married, do some traveling.  There's also the 'ready' argument, you'll never be 100% ready, so I hope you're not waiting for that.  There are plenty more statements that I've heard.  I have an argument for and against each one that I could present, believe me.

There isn't really too much pressure from family, which is a plus.  Some members have asked if we're pregnant or when we'll be having a baby, but that's about it.  No subtle hints to deal with, no constant pressure.

I would love (love) to have a baby right now, but I keep asking myself is it the right time?  Are we making a mistake by waiting too long or starting too early?  Are we ready?  I'd like to have my children before I'm 30 (I'll be 27 in a matter of weeks).  So the numbers aren't working in my favor for more than one child (preferably spaced apart by some # of years) before 30.  Am I going to work afterwards?  Can we afford for one of us to stay home?  Can we afford to have a baby?  What will happen to our friendships (we're the only married couple)?  Will we be able to conceive?  Will we have trouble?  Will we be good parents?

Then there's the little things, like I'm in a wedding later this year and would prefer not to be showing.  (Sidenote:  Randomly the bride says, it's ok, we can use the fabric from shortening your dress to help fit your baby bump, I looked at her like she had 2 heads because I had definitely not mentioned it to her and she was like what?, it's fine, I wouldn't mind - I wasn't sure how to reply).  We have friends getting married at a destination wedding in March and we'd really like to go, but I don't think we would be able to if we were pregnant.  We'd like to go out to Tahoe skiing/snowboarding (we learned this year) next winter and to visit M (her and I will be hitting up the spa!).  Should we put having a family on hold for all of these things or just go for it and figure it out when it happens?

I only have a few people I would talk to this about, one's getting married (I'm in the wedding) and one's 'starting over' after a relationship and I'm so happy that she's doing wonderful, meeting new ppl and doing brand new things, I don't want to burden her (more than I have) with this.  KC and I have definitely talked about it, but I think he's at the same place as I am, maybe leaning a little in one direction as well.

While we've not actively practiced our faith lately (it's something I'd like to become more active in), I know that whatever the plan is for us we'll accept it and make it work.

Sooooo many questions, where to begin.  I'm too much of a planner not to worry about these kinds of things.  It's just something that's always on my mind lately, thanks for reading my ramblings.

50th Post!

Today is my 50th post!!  Yeah!  Ok, so for most of you regular bloggers out there, it might not seem like a big deal, but I tried blogging before and made it like 2 weeks and quit.  While I don't post every day, I try to a few times a week and I'm definitely having fun posting (I don't know if there are very many reading :-) ) and I hope I can keep up with it.  Since we just got back from vacation and work is crazy hectic, I thought I would just gather a few random thoughts and put them all together for today, hopefully the rest of the week will quiet down.

  1. We had a fantastic weekend in Savannah!  It was a beautiful place to visit.  We set some goals for ourselves (which I'll share in our recap later this week) and I'm going to try my hardest to hold us to them.
  2. I can't believe that our wedding was a year ago!
  3. I'd really like to do a giveaway, but I'm not sure if people would be interested.  I'm thinking if I could get a certain number of followers (say 25 or 50), then I'd host one.  (So if you're not following, please click over and follow!)  Thoughts/interest?
  4. I appreciate every one's thoughts on "A perspective on friends", it really helped to know that I'm not the only one.
  5. I'm so close to the 10K but I'm having some major discomfort it my lower legs (shins/calves, everything).
  6. My Living Room and Dining Room makeover is half done.  Hopefully we can complete it this week and I can share the final result.  I'm fighting with the company over the delivery fee ($200+).  There were 1.5hrs outside (late) their delivery window and never notified us that they would not be there in the window.  We had to call them to find out if they were still coming.
  7. I'd like to start doing Menu Monday again.  The summer is ridiculous (sports games/practice, etc 4-5 days/week) so I need to quick and easy ideas.  Anyone have any quick recipe ideas/books?
  8. I'm excited to schedule my photo shoot soon.
  9. Do you have things that will make you read a blog or not read it?  For instance, I use Google Reader and if you only show a portion of the post (truncated feed), I will probably not read any longer.  I hate having to click over to read the rest.  What sends you in one direction or another?
  10. I love getting comments and really look forward to receiving them, so in turn, I've been making a better effort to leave more comments myself.
I hope you all had a great weekend!

You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play your card, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

Fab Friday and Fill-ins

Hi everyone, sorry for the light posting this week. Mom and Dad left Monday and we've been so busy this week getting ready for our trip to Savannah. We are in the car right now heading to GA. I am definitely looking forward to spending the weekend just the 2 of us. I have a few posts ready to go up while we are gone and hopefully we'll be back to normal next week (with a trip recap). Sorry if the formatting is funny, blogger and my iPhone aren't getting along well.

Have a great weekend!

I started following Design Girl last week and The Fab Friday this week is Chick Flick's so I couldn't resist participating!  Here are a few of my favs:

The Notebook
Pretty Woman
Dirty Dancing
Serendipity
27 Dresses
The Ugly Truth
The Proposal
The Wedding Date
My Best Friend's Wedding
In Her Shoes

I'm sure that there are more if I looked through my movies.

Time to Fill-in the blanks with Lauren:

1.  The very best thing about the summer is the longer days and all of the parties and cook outs. Lots of time for walks or runs or heading out to the beach.

2.  My first crush ever was  Ummmm I have no idea actually. I've been thinking about this since I read the questions and I really can't remember. Guess he wasn't that memorable! :-)

3.  This may sound really silly but   I would rather have cake without frosting and I don't like donuts.  Ok weird but I don't have much else, plus whenever I tell people this they think I'm joking but I'm not.

4.  I squeeze my toothpaste from the bottom of the tube. It drives me crazy when people squeeze from the middle, which is why KC and I don't share.

5.  My absolute favorite "comfort food" is  either pizza or salt and vinegar chips

6.  A random fact about me is that  I worked on a bridge to Canada flagging traffic in the summers during high school and a few during college

7.  The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn't live without is   definitely my iPhone. I never thought it would be that big of a deal when I had a 'normal' phone, now I feel lost without it.
